MMCs are number of contacts you are actually reaching out to every month.
MMCs are the number of unique contacts which go through an Inflection Journey in a month, not your database size.

That would count as 1 MMCs.
It varies by customer, but among customers who have completely replaced their legacy marketing automation product with Inflection, it averages to 5 - 15%. In other words, if you have a 5M database with Marketo, you could expect about 200K MMCs using Inflection. Some with databases over 10M may have MMCs be < 5% of their database size.
Inflection does not count unpersonalized batch sends against your MMC count, up to 10x your contracted MMCs. For example, if you purchase 100,000 MMCs, you can send unpersonalized batch sends to 1M people. This is great for announcements, newsletters, and legal notices.
We were frustrated with how legacy marketing automation providers priced by database size and the useless work their customers have to do to delete contacts just to stay “under the cap.” We knew there had to be a better way, so we invented the MMC.
An MMC is any person who runs through an Inflection journey in a month.
